When talking about the stock market exchange we traditionally talk about 2 kinds of trades the after hour stock trades that is also known as the pre market trades and the live action that is happening during open hours.

 

For example the biggest and most active stock exchange is the new york exchange stock that resides on wall street. It's opening hours are  9:30 A.M. To 4 P.M during which all activity happens online and stock trading is done actively.

 

After this hours (and before) selling and buying proposal continues to come in through brokers but this influence the opening rate of each stock.
